Stratton Mountain 6/1/2013

At 3,940 ft, Stratton Mountain is 73rd on the New England Hundred Highest hiking list. I hiked it on 6/1/13 using the Long Trail as an out and back from Stratton Arlington Rd. The hike was 6.5 miles round trip with an overall elevation gain of 2,298 ft. The weather was predicted to be hazy, hot, and humid and it sure was. This is a shorter and easier hike so it was a good fit for a hot day. While the views were limited by the haze, they were still great from the fire tower at the summit.

  • Part way up the first of two climbing sections of trail
  • A rock inside the roots of a tree
  • Getting up into another easy section of trail
  • Looking back down a mostly flat trail
  • The blue sky through the trees makes it look like a nice day out, even if the temperature and humidity are starting to climb high
  • One of the trail blazes on a tree

  • A view south from a turn in the trail
  • This view point is very narrow
