02-10-2011 Climb

My 3rd hike up the mountain of the year. Taking the White Dot Trail to the summit and descending the Red Spot Trail. The morning was very clear on the summit and the clouds started to come in some on my way down. It was quite windy at the top and was blowing constantly. All things considered though, a great day hiking for my first time on my birthday.

Monadnock7389

  • Starting at the park headquarters heading up the White Dot Trail
  • The trail is very well packed in a single path
  • Sign at the intersection with the Cascade Link
  • The first real climb on the trail
  • About halfway up the first climb
  • A tree that was leaning away from the trail into an opening
  • After the first steady climb, you can start to see out through the trees without their leaves
  • After a very brief leveling off, the trail starts to climb again
  • Half way up to the summit
  • Looking back down the trail at the halfway marker
  • Again the trail levels off for just a short bit
  • A steap climb just before the first open views
  • First open view out to the East
  • View to the South
  • Looking back down the trail at the first open area of the trail
  • Looking over to Bald Rock and with the Kiasticuticus Peak rock sticking up nicely
  • Looking up the mountain, but the summit isn't in sight yet
  • Around 2400 feet the trees were getting icy
  • Looking back down the trail from around 2400 feet
  • Looking over the mountain to the Southwest and Gap Mtn
