06-03-2011 Climb

12th hike of the year up the mountain. Took the Pumpelly Trail up and back with just a bit of exploring on the way back. It was a nice temperature for hiking and a little windy, but not too bad. The sun was out with some clouds. All in all a nice day for hiking

  • A narrow section of trail leading up through the trees
  • An early section that was a little bit rocky
  • A patch of Canada Mayflower

  • Here the trail takes a turn before heading up the steepest and longest climb on the entire trail
  • Clintonia (Bluebead Lily)
  • Heading up the long steep climb
  • The trail is quite worn into the mountain in places
  • A scramble over some open rocks
  • The first view along the trail
  • This tree was rocking back and forth in the wind coming up off the rocks and back down again
  • Following the trail up some open rocks
  • As you get higher up the trail you get more and more views
  • Mainly following the ridge, the trail is scattered with downward climbs
  • Walking down the trail I noticed this large group of sand fleas
