12-03-2011 Climb

Hike #23 for the year. I started off early today, not long after sunrise. It was a bit cold to start and warmed up to around freezing while I was on the summit. It was a little breezy, but certainly not bad for this time of year. There was hardly a cloud in the sky today.

  • There was only one other car at the Dublin Trail head when I started off. This was kind of odd since I met two people coming down quite aways apart from each other.
  • Crossing a small brook early on the trail
  • Looking off towards the logged area where the trail use to start through
  • Pretty gradual and smooth so far
  • Getting some rocks in the trail now and a little steeper
  • A growth on a tree right next to the trail
  • Certainly more rock now as the trail heads over a bit of exposed ledge
  • With it being cold at night now, there is some ice once you get part way up the mountain
  • You need to be careful where the ice comes over the rocks and trees made into steps. I almost slipped on one that only looked wet but had a layer of ice underneath the water
  • One of the harder rocky sections of the trail. It was a bit icy at the top of this section, but still very doable watching where you put your feet
  • A little bit of a view out through the trees
  • The first limited view over the trees
  • View out over the trees
  • A brief rocky dip in the trail
  • The trail becoming more solid rock
  • First good view out from the trail
  • View North from the trail
  • Looking over at the Pumpelly Ridge to the East
  • Looking back down the trail now that I am coming up out of the trees. Looking up the trail required looking directly into the sun at this point
  • Northeast over the Pumpelly Ridge
