With the weather prediction of clouds and possibly rain, I picked some trails without many views that I haven't done for a while. Other than at the summit, the hike was very quiet and without many other hikers. The hike was a total of 6.88 miles with 2,045 ft of overall elevation gain

  • After a low snow year and plenty of time with bare ground, things are finally starting to green up
  • A simple feature in the trail that I think makes for a nice spot
  • While stopped on the trail, I saw a deer just into the trees. After a bit, this one stood up as well
  • Lots of small brush in the way, but that's a deer about 30 feet from the trail going about her morning eating
  • An easy stretch of trail goes around a rock and through a stone wall
  • At the intersection, I turned left onto the Cart Path, away from the Old Toll Road
  • Just after the forest transitions from hardwoods to softwoods, the Cart Path stops and the trail becomes the Mossy Brook Trail
  • Looking back to the hardwoods forest from where the trail changes over
  • Mossy Brook Trail follows along Mossy Brook. What are the odds?
  • A small cascade in the brook
  • This old dead tree fell many years ago next to the trail. Since it doesn't actually block the trail, it doesn't need to be cleaned up
  • Plenty of moss is growing on the dead tree
  • The one crossing of Mossy Brook is a pretty easy crossing with plenty of rocks to cross on
  • Looking up Mossy Brook, you can easily see where they came up with the name for it
  • At the end of the trail, the Great Pasture Trail heads right and up to Monte Rosa
  • I'll be taking the Marian Trail though over to the Marlboro Trail
  • Looking back down the Mossy Brook Trail
  • The trail going just to the side of an exposed section or rock. Going up the rock could be tricky and slippery on a day like today where everything is damp
  • A small view point along the trail provides a look at the inside of a cloud
  • A small spider web next to the trail
