The kiosk at the start of the trail

  • The kiosk at the start of the trail
  • About 1/4 of a mile up the trail is a trail register where you can sign in. I looked on the way down though and it appeared that all the notebooks were full
  • A gentle early section of trail
  • I noticed this rock on the ground. It appears to have split some time ago and the layers have slowly been working further apart
  • The trail leading over a large exposed piece of rock
  • One of a few short inclines before the real climb begins
  • The start of the steep climb
  • The first real climb of the day is the steepest and longest
  • Still on the steep climb, the trail makes a turn over some rocks
  • Just above the steep climb is a small opening in the trees before things really open up more
  • One of the many white Ms that help blaze the Marlboro Trail
  • Clear markings at the junction with the Marian Trail
  • A well stacked cairn at the junction with the Marian Trail
  • The Rock House
  • The large mostly flat rock on top overhangs enough to provide a bit of shelter. Giving this feature it's name. Most normal sized adults could probably stand upright underneath the rock
  • The view from the junction of the Marlboro and Marian Trails
  • Looking down over the open rock
  • Gap Mountain to the south
  • A bit of a view to the west
  • A close up look at some of the needles on one of the trees
