Mt. Katahdin, Baxter Peak (42 of 67)

The 42nd peak of the year would be Mt. Katahdin, Baxter Peak at 5,267 ft. It was hiked on 9/8/14 with a distance 10.105 miles and 4,161 ft overall elevation gain with 4,376 ft total elevation gain. I had originally planned to go over to Hamlin Peak as well this day, but a steeper and harder than expected climb made me rethink this plan. I changed plans up on the mountain and decided to play it safe so I could do better descending over the difficult terrain. Unfortunately, this would end up meaning a second trip to Baxter State Park would be needed this year
