  • Ready to hit the trail
  • The sign at the start of the Webster-Jackson Trail on the side of Route 302
  • An early steep and rocky section of the Webster-Jackson Trail
  • At a small brook crossing that eventually becomes Flume Cascade in Crawford Notch
  • At the junction where the Webster-Jackson trail splits.  Right to Mt. Webster and left to Mt. Jackson
  • Ont he Jackson branch of the Webster Jackson Trail, there is this small brook crossing

  • Getting closer to the summit, the trail briefly levels out
  • Debris has been placed next to the trail to help keep hikers on the rocks and off the vegetation and mud
  • The summit can be seen just up ahead
  • Just before the summit, the trail gets steep and goes over some large rocks

  • The view north from Mt. Jackson.  I can see the rest of my route for the day from here
  • Mt. Eisenhower, Mt. Monroe, and Mt. Washington in the distance

  • Some small patches of logging can be seen near Bretton Woods
  • Mt. Willey, Mt. Field, and Mt. Tom can be seen on the other side of Crawford Notch
  • The rocky side of Mt. Willey on the western side of the notch can be seen past the summit of Mt. Webster on the eastern side of the notch
  • Looking further up the trail, a bog bridge can be seen going through a wet portion of trail (<a href="http://sdways01.smugmug.com/New-England-4K/Ext-Pres-Traverse/i-VCPZ66w">see later picture from the bridge</a>)
