Gale River Trail starting off from the parking lot

  • Gale River Trail starting off from the parking lot
  • Taking a quick dip down to cross a small brook
  • Some spring wildflowers starting to bloom
  • The trail heads gradually uphill to start with good footing
  • The trees get a little thicker as you go on. Here water runs down next to the trail
  • Sign informing of a trail section relocation. The two crossings of Gale River have been eliminated. Also, notice a small animal seems to have nibbled on the lower left of the sign
  • Trees and brush blocking the old section of trail to keep people from using it
  • The new section starts off with a couple loop back as it heads into the trees a bit further away from the river
  • Fresh moose track on the new section of trail (since the rain stopped yesterday). The tracks went up the trail quite a ways to a brook, then came back about half of that distance before going back into the woods
  • New trail coming down to a brook crossing. Quite a bit of work was done in the relocation
  • The brook that the moose came up to before turning back
  • Looking up the brook
  • Yellow Trout Lillies getting some morning sun
  • The topsoil on the relocated trail is pretty soft still and was a little muddy from recent rain due to this
  • The relocated trail coming back down off the side hill to meet up with the existing trail
  • Trees and brush in the upper section of the old piece of trail
  • A small footbridge crossing a brook
  • Another brook coming down off the hill crossing the trail
  • Looking up the small brook
  • Looking down stream at the slide in the trail
