Looking northeast from the summit

  • The summit is in sight
  • The remains of an old fire tower on the summit
  • Miles on the summit sign. Somehow he beat me up here, which is hard since he stays inside my pack
  • What remains of the fire tower. Normally I say "if there is a fire tower, you must climb it." But based on the number of broken bolts, snapped guy lines, and the short height advantage it provides over an already open summit, I decided I didn't need to (although the next day I met someone on another peak that had climbed this tower)
  • A slightly shorter sub-peak of the summit
  • Just below the remains of the fire tower is a stone structure built into the mountain (a bit). This is the roof of it seen from above
  • The stone structure seems relatively well built, but is quite short. You need to bend over to get inside the door
  • A protective wall (?) is also built around the structure
  • Mt. Spaulding and Sugarloaf Mtn. to the north
  • Mt. Redington and the Crockers to the northwest
  • The Saddleback peaks can be seen to the west
  • A valley to the west. The Navy conducts some training exercises in this area
  • A small sub-peak of Mt. Abraham as you head west from the summit
  • Mt. Redington
  • North (behind) and South Crocker Mountains
  • Mt. Spaulding
  • Sugarloaf Mtn
  • Looking east from the summit
