1. New England 4000+ ft Mountains

Mt. Tom, Mt. Field, & Mt. Willey (45-47 of 67)

Peaks 45-47 of my quest for 67 in a single year were Mt. Tom (4,051 ft), Mt. Field (4,340 ft), and Mt. Willey (4,285 ft). I hiked them from the back side compared to most hikers. Starting off on Zealand Road, doing a traverse of the ridge, and then looping back to the start going past Ethan Pond. • The Zealand Trail starts off pretty gentle, but with some exposed roots and rocks
  • There are a few bridges along the Zealand Trail

  • Parts of Zeacliff and Zealand seen over the beaver pond
  • Early section of the A-Z Trail
  • A small brook crossing
  • There is a long gradual section on the A-Z Trail
  • Looking back down the trail
  • Nearing the ridge, the trail gets rockier and steeper
  • Up on the ridge at the Mt. Tom Spur trail
  • The start of the Mt. Tom Spur
  • One small rock scramble on the spur trail
  • The small cairn at the actual summit of Mt. Tom
  • View to the west looking over the trees from the summit
  • Miles at the summit with the view behind him
  • At the center of the photo is the AMC Zealand Falls Hut
  • Mt. Hale to the west
  • Looking south towards Mt. Carrigain and the Hancocks
  • Some nice patches of foliage are developing down in the Zealand Valley
  • Near the summit is another view point that looks out to the north and east
