Whiteface & Passaconaway (50-51 of 67)

Peaks 50 and 51 for this year would be Mt. Whiteface at 4,020 ft and Mt. Passaconaway at 4,043 ft. I hiked them on 10-19-14 on a day that started off sunny and gradually become more cloudy. It was 32 degrees on the summits with wind gusting to 21 mph. The hike was 12.0 miles with 2,903 feet of overall gain and 4,646 feet of total elevation gain.

  • Along the Rollins Trail just before starting to climb up Mt. Passaconaway
  • At the intersection with the Dicey's Mill Trail
  • The trail heading up Mt. Passaconaway from the intersection
  • A nice easy section in an area with a bit of a switch back in the trail
  • Just before the summit of Mt. Passaconaway, the trail gets a bit steep and rocky
  • From the view point just before the wooded summit of Passaconaway
  • A nearby peak from the view point
  • Looking over to the Tripyramids
  • The higher summits are starting to get into the clouds
  • A nice view northwest towards Franconia Ridge
  • Miles at the viewpoint
  • Miles taking in the views
  • Just past the summit is another nice viewpoint. This one looks more to the northeast and east
  • Mt. Chocorua
  • Looking east at Mt. Chocorua
  • Mt. Chocorua is just to the east
  • A small outlook just past the summit of Mt. Passaconaway provides this nice view north
  • Looking over towards the Presidential Range
  • The clouds are getting thicker and are just above my elevation
