Petroglyphs - Bellows Falls
First made known in 1789, these 24 odd sized faces' story is not fully known and there are many theories to explain them. They are carved into the rock along the edge of the Connecticut River just below the main part of Bellows Falls. A short scramble down the steep rocks of the river's edge will get you to them where some fading yellow paint marks the location. Their age and purpose is also made a bit more unknown due to some locals in the 1930s having the carvings deepened to help keep the river from eroding them away
