  • We didn't take it up, but the first train up of the day is the older steam powered cog
  • For the trip up and down, the steam engine uses 1 ton of coal and 1,000 gallons of water
  • Starting the trip up the mountain
  • The conductor enjoying his job
  • Leaving the base station area
  • Cresting the first hill. The steam engine is always easier to spot with its smoke rising above it
  • Our ride up the mountain. One of the newer bio-diesel engines. These engines use only 13 gallons of fuel for the trip up and back down
  • The view up the mountain from the base station
  • Some color from the early foliage
  • With the ferns yellow, there was even more color
  • The few red trees really stand out
  • Looking up the mountains to Mt. Jefferson
  • The ridge on the north side of Burt Ravine
  • Another engine coming down at the top of the dual secion of tracks
  • The center track is what the cog gear uses to drive the engine up and down
  • Another engine on its way down
  • The engineer pressing the button to activate the track switch
  • Looking up the tracks from the back of the car with Mt. Clay on the left
  • Coming up to Jacob's Ladder
  • Mt. Clay
